Powder coating or Coating on rain chains
Design O Garden brings you a blog post dedicated to "Coating", the process used to color-coat our rain chains. Find out more about the principle and benefits of powder coating our rain chains Enjoy your reading!
Why is powder coating used on rain chains?
Rain chains require a strong, durable and corrosion-resistant paint. Powder coating is therefore the ideal candidate for applying color to rain chains that would otherwise be made of bare stainless steel.
As rain chains spend their lives outdoors, they are exposed to many elements that can damage them. Powder coating is highly resistant to storm damage. They must also resist corrosion due to the amount of water that flows over them. Traditional paint can start to flake or bubble after repeated wetting. Powder paint is a great way to avoid this!
What is powder coating?
Powder coating on rain chains is a solvent-free method of applying paint in dry powder form. It is applied electrostatically and cured by a heat source.
The paint is electrically charged as it leaves the spray gun and is sprayed onto the rain chains; by grounding the metal rain chains, the paint adheres very well. The tiny paint particles are then melted by heat to create a smooth surface.
